Juventus brings aboard Giga, Scott
Juventus Utena announced big men Norbertas Giga on a three-year deal and playmaker Shannon Scott on a one-year deal.
Giga (24, 208), who graduated from Jacksonville State in 2018 and signed a deal with Rytas Vilnius last summer. However, he played only a single game in the Betsafe LKL last year and was loaned to Polish side Spojnia Starogard.
Center averaged 10.4 points and 5.7 rebounds during 23 minutes of action in the Polish basketball league.
“We have looked into many games from Giga, received information from BC Rytas representatives, everyone had positive minds. We hope he will improve in our team and will help to win games”, Eimantas Skersis, BC Juventus GM was quoted in the statement.
Scott (26, 185) represented Long Island Nets in the NBA G league last season and averaged 30 minutes, 9 points and 5.9 assists in 46 games.
Scott had contract with Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets, but did not make NBA debut.
“Scoring was not the main thing when we were looking for a player”, Skersis was quoted in the statement. “He averaged 4-5 assists in every team he played. This is exactly what we need.”
The club is expected to sign foreign shooting guard and two young Lithuanians to complete the roster for 2019-20 season, per club announcement. Full squad can be found here.
