Four teams and one title. Betsafe LKL reaches it‘s culmination. Two semi-final pairs are set for their series.
Zalgiris Kaunas are the reigning champions and are favorites to defend the title for 11th time in a row. Kaunas team swept the quarterfinal (2:0) against Pieno Zvaigzdes Pasvalys.
Martin Schiller and the guys finished the regular season in 1st place with a 33-3 win/loss record. The team was 6 wins ahead of the second placed Rytas Vilnius.
Only two players averaged over ten points in the regular season – Marius Grigonis and Joffrey Lauvergne. We can expect big impact from them.
Zalgiris will match up against Juventus Utena. They finished the regular season in 4th place and were very close to the 3rd.
Juventus come to the last stage of the season with a lot of problems. Vaidas Kariniauskas and Ignas Vaitkus will definetely miss the remaining of the season, Bryant Crawford also is dealing with injuries.
We will see how this pair pan out but one is for sure – you can‘t underestimate Juventus. They beat Zalgiris once in the regular season and will try to put a fight once more.
Even more intrigueing semi-final awaits between Rytas Vilnius and Lietkabelis Panevezys. Both teams have declared that their goal this season is to reach the Betsafe LKL final.
However, favorite remains Rytas. The team is seeking their fourth consecutive finals appearance. Giedrius Zibenas has a lot firepower on offense with players like Ivan Buva, Andrew Goudelock, Martynas Echodas.
Lietkabelis finished the regular season 3rd but beat Rytas twice. They still have a lot of chances and character to fight. You can expect some good performances from the guards Kyle Vinales, Margiris Normantas and Paulius Valinskas.
Rytas beat Siauliai in the quarterfinal and Lietkabelis advanced through Neptunas Klaipeda.
