The newest Vytautas additions LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball received a warm welcome to Lithuania despite the usual January chill, arriving to their first professional destination to the sound of fanfares on Wednesday evening.
The brothers, accompanied by father LaVar Ball, were met at the Vilnius International Airport by a large number of journalists and the most curious local basketball fans, with the tune of local hit 'Welcome to Lithuania' belting in the background, with artist Jurgis Didziulis performing live.
The continental trip took nearly a day and got even longer after the last leg of their journey, a flight from Polish capital Warsaw, was delayed, resulting in the Ball family stepping foot on Lithuanian soil an hour later than expected.
"This is awesome," LaVar Ball revelled in the attention after leading the group out through the arrival gates, with the two sons following him into the swarm of journalists and photographers.
Fans also did not not miss out on opportunities to snap selfies with the internet icons, who were picked up by a party bus that will take them to Prienai and Birstonas, where LiAngelo and Lamelo are set to begin their professional careers.
Vytautas will take on one of the Betsafe LKL powerhouses in Lietuvos Rytas on Saturday in Vilnius but the players aren't expected to debut until January 9, when their new team welcomes Tsmoki Minsk in the Baltic Basketball League.
