Neptunas forward Butkevicius snatches up Player of the Week honors

A strong start of the season has not only landed Neptunas atop the Betsafe LKL standings, but also their second consecutive weekly MVP award, with Arnas Butkevicius claiming the honors after Juan Palacios did it last week.

The 24-year-old forward was the most efficient player in the league in terms of ranking and helped his side to two more impressive victories, including one against the defending champions Zalgiris Kaunas.

Butkevicius was instrumental in the 73-64 triumph, scoring 14 points on 4-of-6 shooting from three-point range and grabbing 6 rebounds. He was even more impressive on Sunday against Vytautas with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals.

"It's very nice to be recognized. This award means that both the success of the team and my personal input was noticed and that adds to the great mood right now," said the player.

Alongside the Neptunas forward, the Betsafe LKL weekly Top 5 included his teammate Renaldas Seibutis, Mauro Veljacic of Nevezis, Martynas Echodas of Lietuvos Rytas and Juventus big man LaRon Dendy.
