Ulanovas fuels Žalgiris in late charge, secures fourth straight Citadele KMT title

Žalgiris Kaunas continues its dominance in the Citadele King Mindaugas Cup. Team coached by Kazys Maksvytis got the first trophy of the season after beating CBet Jonava in the final, winning Citadele KMT for the sixth time, fourth straight.

It was a tense game, but Žalgiris finished it the right way, getting the 81-77 victory. Edgaras Ulanovas packing 22 points and 5 rebounds carried the winning side in Šiauliai. Eventually, as expected, Ulanovas was named Citadele KMT Most Valuable Player for the fourth time.

The eventual winners entered the last quarter losing by one (55-56), but Ulanovas refused to let go and got the job done in the final minutes. Žalgiris captain made three important free throws, and then Kevarrius Hayes blocked Edvinas Šeškus to force CBet to surrender.

Arnas Butkevičius paired 17 points with 7 rebounds, Rolands Šmits and Lukas Lekavičius scored 10 points each. Edvinas Šeškus logged 17 points and 6 rebounds for the losing side, Glynn Watson ended up with 15 points and 5 assists.

The winners received Citadele KMT trophy and a prize fund of €40,000. The runners-up won €25,000. 

Earlier, 7-bet Lietkabelis won a bronze medal game 91-88 against Betsafe-LKL champions Rytas Vilnius to receive €15,000. The fourth place team from got €10,000.
