Jonava shocks Rytas to advance to the Citadele KMT final, Žalgiris knocks out Panevėžys

2023 Citadele King Mindaugas Cup (Citadele KMT) Final Four in Šiauliai started with a big surprise. CBet Jonava produced an incredible upset against Rytas Vilnius, beating Betsafe-LKL champions 92-66.

After closing the second half up by 11 points (52:41), Virginijus Šeškus team advanced to the Citadele KTM tournament final, especially thanks to Edvinas Šeškus, who ended up with 24 points and 6 assists.

Glynn Watson followed with 19 points, Martin Laksa had 18. Marcus Foster tried his best until he got fouled out in the final minutes, he was not enough with 20 points. Martynas Echodas had 17 points.

Jonava will face Žalgiris Kaunas in the finals as the last year's Citadele KMT champions strolled past 7-bet Lietkabelis Panevėžys 77-66 in the second semifinal. Žalgiris might win its fourth straight Citadele KMT title on Sunday.

Lukas Lekavičius with 16 points led a balanced team effort for the winning side, while Rolands Šmits added 13 points. Gyorgy Goloman and Jamel Morris had 14 points each for Panevėžys team.

Citadele KMT champions will win a cash prize of €40,000 along with the trophy on Sunday. The second place winners will receive €25,000, the third place winners €15,000 and the fourth place team €10,000. There will also be a three-point shooting competition between the games on Sunday, the winner of which will win €3333.
