Neptunas captured the last step of the podium in the Betsafe LKL for the second year in a row, finishing off a 3-0 sweep over Lietkabelis with a dramatic 84-77 victory in Game 3 of the Third-Place series at home in Klaipeda on Friday evening.
The Tomas Delininkaitis-led hosts held off a last-quarter rally from the visitors to crown their best-ever Regular Season performance with well-deserved medals in the Play-Offs.
Delininkaitis registered a game-high 24 points after connecting on 5-of-9 from deep, Deividas Gailius scored 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, while Lorenzo Williams had 15 points and 7 assists. Gytis Masiulis was also efficient, putting up 12 points and coming down with 5 rebounds.
For Lietkabelis, who were left empty-handed once again, Mindaugas Kupsas double-doubled with 18 points and 11 assists, Jamar Wilson also tallied 18 points, as Paulius Valinskas and Stefan Sinovec chipped in with 11 and 9 points, respectively.
The Betsafe LKL season could come to a close already on Saturday, with Zalgiris one game away from defending the crown in the Finals against Rytas.
