Zalgiris, Lietkabelis victorious to start Play-Offs
The defending Betsafe LKL champions Zalgiris began the Quarter-Finals with an 89-70 victory over the visiting Dzukija, picking up steam in the second half of Tuesday's contest.
Holding just a one point lead after the first two quarters of play, the Brandon Davies-led hosts decided the outcome by outscoring the visitors from Alytus 27-17 in the third stanza.
Davies finished hte game with a team-high 18 points in just 12 minutes of action, with Leo Westermann collected 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Marius Grigonis, Paulius Jankunas and Thomas Walkup chipped in with 9 points each.
Meanwhile, Kerem Kanter posted 30 points and 6 rebounds for Dzukija, as Paulius Petrilevicius and Egidijus Dimsa had 12 and 11 points, respectively.
In the other game of the day, Lietkabelis opened their series against Pieno Zvaigzdes with a double-digit 95-87 victory in Panevezys, Paulius Valinskas leading the way wiht 26 points and 8 assists.
Ike Iroegbu had 17 points and dished out 5 dimes in the win, while Saulius Kulvietis registered 15 points.
On the other side of the floor, Jay Threatt tallied 24 points and 10 assists in a losing effort for Pieno Zvaigzdes, as Yancy Gates and Dagoberto Pena finished with 19 and 12 points, respectively.
