Nevezis pull off shocker in Vilnius, Juventus trounce Pieno Zvaigzdes
There might not have been a bigger upset in the Betsafe LKL this season than last-placed Nevezis handing the Dainius Adomaitis-coached Rytas a 70-68 upset on Wednesday evening in Vilnius.
Having gone come into the contest winless for over three months, Nevezis ended their cold streak despite not making a single three-pointer, improving to a 5-26 record on the back of the shocking result.
Gabrielius Maldunas led the charge with 18 points and 9 rebounds, Zaid Hearst scored 12 points, while Martin Junakovic chipped in with 11 points for the guests.
Meanwhile, D.J. Seeley had a team-high 15 points for Rytas, who dropped to 23-8, with Arnas Butkevicius and Martynas Echodas adding 11 and 10 points, respectively.
In the other Wednesday fixture, Juventus extended the Pieno Zvaigzdes losing streak to four games with a 107-72 thrashing in Utena behind 14 points apiece from Arvydas Siksnius and Tomas Dimsa.
Martinas Geben double-doubled with 13 points and 13 rebounds in the win, while Jay Threatt and Dagobert Pena were the top scorers for Pieno Zvaigzdes in a losing effort.
