Lietkabelis stun Rytas in Vilnius, Siauliai make it two in a row

Lietkabelis resumed the Betsafe LKL action after the international break with a bang, registering a 94-83 upset against Rytas on the road in Vilnius on Wednesday evening.

The visitors from Panevezys got out to a double-digit lead already in the opening stanza, increasing the advantage to as many as 24 points after the halftime interval.

Donatas Tarolis paced the winners with 17 points, Vaidas Kariniauskas and Paulius Valinskas collected 14 points each, while Stefan Sinovec finished the contest in double figures as well with 10 points.

The trio of Mindaugas Girdziunas, Arnas Butkevicius and D.J. Seeley were responsible for 58 of the overall 83 points scored by Rytas in a 24-18-16 split.

The outcome closed the gap between the teams in the standings to just one game, with Lietkabelis improving to 8-4 and Rytas falling to 9-3.

In the other game of the day, Siauliai inscribed their second win in a row in a 98-94 contest against Juventus to improve to a 2-11 mark. They began the season with 11 consecutive defeats, but look to have finally turned the page.

Ignas Vaitkus led Siauliai with 20 points, Kristupas Zemaitis added 17 points and 7 assists, while Evaldas Saulys and Cedrick Bowen chipped in with 13 points each.

For Juventus, Vaidas Cepukaitis had a team-high 18 points, Arvydas Siksnius scored 16 points, as Dovis Bickauskis and Martinas Geben finished the night with 14 points apiece.
