Lietuvos Rytas ground Vytautas; Lietkabelis top Dzukija in scoring race
Lietuvos Rytas showcased their superiority against Vytautas in the Betsafe LKL with a dominant display in Vilnius, while Lietkabelis completed Saturday's action by winning a run-and-gun battle against Dzukija.
Playing without LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball, Vytautas ended up on the wrong side of a 113-56 blowout, as the Rimas Kurtinaitis-coached Lietuvos Rytas set the highest scoring mark in the league this season.
The hosts went 17-of-32 from three-point range, with Mindaugas Girdziunas leading the way with a game-high 21 points on 5-of-7 shooting from deep, while Ben Madgen knocked down six triples for 19 points.
Martynas Echodas chipped in with a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Arturas Jomantas had 16 points and 10 boards.
For the eight-man Vytautas, Tomas Dimsa finished the game with 17 points and Regimantas Miniotas was the only other player in double figures with 10 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals but also 6 turnovers.
Lietuvos Rytas, currently in third place, improved to a 14-4 mark in the Betsafe LKL standings, while Vytautas touched rock bottom in 10th place after dropping to 4-14.
In the other game of the day, Lietkabelis won all four quarters by slight margins and got the upper hand over Dzukija in a 98-87 shoot-out behind a 21-point efforts from Zanis Peiners and Ksistof Lavrinovic.
Darjus Lavrinovic added 12 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks, while Gintaras Leonavicius and Simas Jasaitis collected 11 and 10 points, respectively.
A solid shooting night from three-point range had Katin Reinhardt leading the scoring for Dzukija with 19 points, Gediminas Navickas had 14 points, while Mindaugas Susinskas contributed with 13 in a losing effort.
After putting an end to their five-game losing streak earlier this week, fourth-placed Lietkabelis climbed to 12-6 in the league table, with the 6-12 Dzukija in 8th place.
