Zalgiris settle old debts against Neptunas
The on-a-roll defending Betsafe LKL champions Zalgiris got payback against Neptunas for their only defeat in the season, steamrolling the visitors from Klaipeda at Zalgirio Arena on Sunday.
Having jumped out to a double-digit lead already after the first quarter of play, the hosts cruised to a convincing 88-62 victory, with Antanas Kavaliauskas leading the way with a 15-point performance in just 15 minutes of playing time.
Kevin Pangos chipped in with 13 points and 5 assists, while frontcourt players Brandon Davies and Aaron White collected 10 points apiece. In his return from the sidelines, Dee Bost had 5 points, 4 boards and a couple of steals.
For Neptunas, Renaldas Seibutis scored 14 points against his former team, while Juan Palacios was the only other player in double figures with 11 points, 4 assists and 4 steals.
The victory saw Zalgiris improve to a league-best 9-1 mark, which they share with Lietkabelis at the top of the standings. Neptunas, meanwhile, are tied for third with Lietuvos Rytas at 7-3.
In the other game of the day, Lietkabelis downed Siauliai 78-68 on the road, as Darjus Lavrinovic continued his strong run of play by registering a game-high 17 point.
Adas Juskevicius added 13 points, while Zygimantas Skucas and Gary Talton chipped in with 11 points each, with the latter also grabbing 7 rebounds and 4 assists.
Siauliai forward Omar Prewitt had another solid performance for Siauliai, scoring 16 points and notching down 8 rebounds, while Sarunas Beniusis collected 12 points and 5 boards.
