All Quarterfinal Matchups Locked in as Regular Season Concludes
A final-round victory by Neptūnas Klaipėda (17-15) in the LKL, sponsored by Betsson, has officially settled the remaining regular-season storylines.
Holding the tiebreaker advantage, Neptūnas edged out Šiauliai (17-15) to secure the No. 3 seed in the standings, forcing the Šiauliai squad to settle for fourth.
As a result, Neptūnas will face a highly anticipated "seaside derby" in the playoff openers against sixth-seeded Gargždai—a team that recently got the upper hand in their last head-to-head matchup. This marks Neptūnas' first return to the league's top four since 2020, when the pandemic cut the season short and left them in fourth place. Meanwhile, top-flight debutants Gargždai will be fighting for a historic spot among the league’s elite in their very first season.
In a best-of-three quarterfinal series, Šiauliai will square off against fifth-seeded Lietkabelis. Darius Songaila’s men actually picked up a morale-boosting win over their upcoming playoff opponents this past Saturday. For the Panevėžys side, a quarterfinal exit would be a major upset, as they haven’t missed the semifinals in a decade (since the 2015–2016 season). Šiauliai, on the other hand, look to snap a four-year drought and return to the final four.
The remaining matchups had already been locked in prior to the final whistle: regular-season champions Žalgiris Kaunas will take on Jonava Hipocredit, who made a sensational late run to crash the playoff party, while Rytas Vilnius faces a tricky test against Juventus Utena.
