Betsafe-LKL's third game week - the sold-out derby game and incredible shooting performance in Jonava

The third week of Betsafe-LKL is over. Together with Scorestars, we will bring you the insights of the Lithuanian basketball league's events last week.

The game week started on the 5th of October with three games. Nevežis-Optibet faced 7bet-Lietkabelis in a thrilling game that after the first quarter ended in the home team's favor 78-85. Yet, F. Manjgafic 20 points, A. Ebo's 12 assists wasn't enough to stop the O. Kovliar with the Spanish league experience. The new point guard of the 7bet-Lietkabelis led his team to an away win.

M Basket-Delamode had to face another loss in the second game of the game week. Despite powerful first two quarters, the Wolves Twinsbet made everything clear during the third quarter. A. Andrews with 26 points, 83% 3-pointers, and 28 efficiency rating played superb with M. Jogėla who supported the Vilnius team with 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 26 efficiency rating. Outstanding performance made by K. Bruhnke, the third round MVP (28 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 34 efficiency rating), didn't save M Basket-Delamode from a loss. End result 86-95 for Vilnius Twinsbet.

Saturday night ended with Cbet-Jonava vs Šiauliai – Casino Admiral. Under 923 eyeballs, the home side granted their first win of the season. Koby McEwen massive 30 points, D. Brewton's 20 points, and E. Venskus'18 points decided the game. M. Kupšas from the Šiauliai – Casino Admiral did a great performance of collecting 16 points and 6 rebounds but the game ended 104 – 93 for CBet Jonava. The hosts had an incredible shooting night from behind the arc as they hit 20 three-pointers out of 40.

Sold out arena. The 8491 passionate basketball fans. Fantastic atmosphere. We are talking about the Sunday night's first derby game of the Betsafe-LKL. Rytas Vilnius faced Žalgiris Kaunas at the Twinsbet arena. Fantastic matchup was quickly directed by the black-white-and-red team. First quarter 22-18 for Rytas Vilnius. The second quarter started better again for the hosts who made a great run to 32-23. Cleary by being a more agressive team, the second quarter ended 50-35 in Rytas favor. The fourth quarter was rather similar to the quarter before. 73-60 for Rytas. Despite having a strong last quarter, it wasn't enough for green-and-white boys to take the win to Kaunas. 91-88 for Rytas Vilnius who collected their second win this season from three games. Žalgiris Kaunas now declined in the league table to third position by facing their first loss in four games.

Despite having a big derby played in Vilnius on Sunday just 2 hours before, maybe we witnessed the formation of another derby. Uniclub Bet – Juventus vs Neptūnas offered us a fantastic game. The legend of the Betsafe-LKL, Gediminas Orelik, made his best performance of the season - 21 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 23 efficiency rating. L. Beliauskas supported him with 20 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 22 efficiency rating. Despite the home team's stars shining, Neptūnas new signings N. Johnson, D. Buie, and Z. Waterman stopped the show. Neptūnas 7 steals and 5 turnovers (compered to 13 turnovers for Uniclub Bet – Juventus) was a solid team performance to secure their third win of the season from three games played. Game result 92-99 for Neptūnas. Leaders of the Betsafe-LKL season for a reason.
