Žalgiris survives Pieno žvaigždės scare, CBet remains undefeated

The third week of Betsafe-LKL season has passed and it has given the fans a few memorable battles.

On Saturday 7bet-Lietkabelis Panevėžys (2/1) defended their home court (100-79) as Gediminas Orelik put up another great performance (19 pts, 5/6 threes, 25 eff) against Nevėžis-Optibet Kėdainiai (0/3).

M Basket-Delamode Mažeikiai (0/3) fought until the end against Wolves Vilnius (3/0), but their effort was not enough to get the first win of the season. Wolves prevailed 84-74.

On Sunday last season’s finalists took the challenge of winless teams. Rytas Vilnius (3/0) got a convincing win (98-82) against Gargždai (0/3), but it wasn’t the case for the champions.

Žalgiris Kaunas (3/0) trailed 14 points in the third quarter against Pieno žvaigždės Pasvalys (0/3). However, Žalgiris outscored their opponents 25-7 in the last ten minutes to get a 78-68 victory.

Two thrillers took place in Betsafe-LKL arenas on Monday. In Jonava, CBet (3/0) were the leading team against Šiauliai (1/2) for almost 39 minutes but they found themselves trailing by one in the last minute. Mike Lewis scored a tough two-pointer to give his team the lead once again. Johnatan Davis missed a three-pointer on the other end and CBet remained undefeated.

The first overtime of the Betsafe-LKL season happened in Utena, where local Uniclub Casino – Juventus (2/1) played against Neptūnas Klaipėda (1/2). After a series of free throws in the last minute of the fourth quarter the teams were sent to overtime. The home team took the matters in its hands in extra five minutes to get a 112-102 win in a highest-scoring game of the season so far.
