Wolves get their first win in new home, M Basket-Delamode still in search for a first victory
The second week of Betsafe-LKL season has passed and two more teams got their first victories in this year’s campaign.
Wolves Vilnius (2-0) recorded their first-ever win at Avia Solutions Group arena which became the teams home after the last year in Alytus. Wolves got the better of Gargždai (0-2) as the seaside team suffered second blowout loss in a row - 104:68.
M Basket-Delamode Mažeikiai (0-2) found themselves in a similar situation. On Saturday they played their first game in Telšiai arena but the outcome was not in favor of the home team this time. M Basket-Delamode lost to CBet Jonava (2-0) 79:82.
Nevėžis-Optibet (0-2) gave Rytas Vilnius (2-0) tough 40 minutes once again. The home team went toe-to-toe with the vicechampions of Betsafe-LKL until the last minutes but Giedrius Žibėnas’s team prevailed in the end 97:85.
Šiauliai (1-1) got their first win of the season in a matchup against Neptūnas Klaipėda (1-1) - 90:82. Neptūnas went from hitting 18 three-pointers in the first game of the season to making just one shot from behind the arc against Šiauliai.
7bet-Lietkabelis Panevėžys (1-1) required a career-high 30 points from its veteran Gediminas Orelik to beat Pieno žvaigždės Pasvalys (0-2) in a fierce battle in Panevėžys - 95:92.
To finish off the week Žalgiris Kaunas (2-0) went to Utena to play against local Uniclub Casino – Juventus (1-1) team. The Lithuanian champions were up 26 in the middle of the fourth quarter but the home team went for a 17-0 run to close the gap between the teams. However, that was not enough as Žalgiris won 79:69.
