Zalgiris loans out Masiulis, Uleckas and Velicka
Three Zalgiris prospects will be developing their skill sets in the Betsafe-LKL next season, as Gytis Masiulis, Lukas Uleckas and Arnas Velicka will be loaned out to clubs in the Lithuanian top flight.
The 21-year-old Masiulis spent last season with Neptunas Klaipeda and earned his way into rotation with efficient play from the early stages of the season. In 22 minutes of playing time, the big man averaged 11.2 points and 5.4 rebounds and wrote his name into the history books with a 33-point and 46-efficiency performance in the series for third place against Lietkabelis. Masiulis will return to Klaipeda for next season as well.
19-year-olds Lukas Uleckas and Arnas Velicka will both take their talents to Prienai next season, as they take a step up in their careers.
Uleckas spent the last three seasons in Zalgiris youth team, but also made his debut in both the Betsafe-LKL and the EuroLeague. Playing in the NKL, he averaged 14 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, while his LKL numbers ended up being an average of 4.0 points in 11 minutes of game time.
Velicka first wore a Zalgiris youth team jersey 4 years ago, and tried his luck in Spain later on. He spent last season representing Tartu Ulikool, where he averaged 19.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.6 assists in the Estonian-Latvian league.
They were also teammates in the FIBA U20 European Championship in Tel Aviv, where Lithuania took fifth place.
Uleckas averaged 14.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists, while Velicka was among the top players in the tournament, averaging 16.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 6.6 assists.
