Zalgiris Kaunas signed point guard Alex Perez. The Mexican guard, who was born and grew up in California, joins Lithuanian champions on “1+1+1” deal.
Perez (1.91 meters, 26 years old) arrives from Banvit Bandirma where he averaged 14.7 points and 5.6 assists in the Turkish League last season as well as 12.8 points, 5.1 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 steals in the Basketball Champions League.
“I can’t wait to get to Kaunas. I am excited to get to know my new teammates. I’ve heard nothing but great things about the city and organization. And, of course, the fans – for sure the best in EuroLeague”, – Perez told Zalgiris.lt in his first message.
Perez started his professional career in his native Mexico with Soles de Mexicali in 2013 and had two more stints with that club over the years. He has also played for La Guaira in Venezuela, San Lorenzo in Argentina, Maccabi Haifa in Israel and VEF Riga in Latvia.
A member of the Mexican national team, Perez is now set to make his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut.
