Arturas Milaknis extends his contract with Zalgiris
The championship-winning season has barely closed the curtain, and Zalgiris is already setting its’ sights on next season, filling up the roster with the extension of Arturas Milaknis contract for at least one more year.
Having already spent 10 seasons in Zalgiris, the 32-year-old sharpshooter has already collected eight Betsafe-LKL championship rings and remains loyal to his hometown club.
“Zalgiris is already in my blood and I’m really happy to stay here for another year. This organization has been growing each year at all accounts and it’s fun to be a part of it. I didn’t have to think twice when I received the offer,” – said Milaknis.
Always a deadly threat from long range, Milaknis averaged 7.4 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 20 minutes of game time on the national stage. He had similar statistics in the EuroLeague, averaging 7.0 points and 1.4 rebounds in 23 minutes, knocking down 41.7 percent of his three-pointers.
Zalgiris director Paulius Motiejunas had nothing but positive words about the old-timer.
“Arturas can inspire the whole team with his fiery attitude and clutch play. He sets a nice tone for our young players and is truly the soul in this locker room. The attention opponents have to pay to him on the court allows others to shine, too. We’re happy Arturas remains loyal to his city, his team, and will continue representing the green-and-white of Zalgiris.”
