Rytas defeat Zalgiris to recapture Kidy Tour King Mindaugas Cup
A comeback to remember saw Rytas lift the Kidy Tour King Mindaugas Cup on their home floor in Vilnius, knocking down the previous title-holders Zalgiris in dramatic fashion.
Having trailed 52-43 in the fourth quarter, the Final Four hosts made up the gap in the final minutes of the contest to come away with a 70-67 triumph, recapturing the trophy for the first time since 2016.
Team captain Chris Kramer led Rytas by example, finishing the night with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals, while big man Artsiom Parakhouski earned the MVP honors after collecting a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds and registering 3 blocks.
Having left a mark in the comeback with a couple of clutch three-pointers, Rok Stipcevic chipped in with 13 points, as D.J. Seeley and Arnas Butkevicius scored 11 and 10, respectively.
For Zalgiris, who had won the last two editions of the Kidy Tour King Mindaugas Cup, Marius Grigonis tallied 15 points, while Leo Westermann and Aaron White collected 11 points apiece.
Earlier in the day, Lietkabelis topped Neptunas for third place in the Final Four with a lopsided 94-67 win behind a 24-point effort from Saulius Kulvietis, who went an efficient 7-of-10 from the field and a perfect 5-of-5 from the stripe.
