Zalgiris brings in Thompson to fill in for Kavaliauskas
Zalgiris will have another fresh face in the locker room, with the Betsafe LKL powerhouse announcing the signing of big man Deon Thompson until the end of the season.
Able to play both in the power forward and center positions, Thompson arrives to Lithuania as a fill-in for the injured Antanas Kavaliauskas, who will be forced to miss at least five weeks of action duo to an upcoming abdomen surgery.
The 30-year-old American began the season in Spanish topflight, averaging 12.5 points and 5.6 rebounds for the 11th-placed San Pablo Burgos in the ACB.
Throughout his career, Thompson has played a total of 90 EuroLeague games, representing Olimpija Ljubljana, ALBA Berlin, Bayern Munich, Galatasaray Istanbul and Crvena Zvezda Belgrade.
He is expected to be ready to gear up for the team's matchup against Fenerbahce on Thursday.
