Zalgiris back on track with win in Prienai; Neptunas handle Nevezis
After seeing their 10-game winning streak in the Betsafe LKL snapped by Lietuvos Rytas, league leaders Zalgiris got back to their winning ways with a convincing win against Vytautas in Prienai on Saturday evening.
Sarunas Jasikevicius and his club improved to 13-2 mark with an 89-70 victory on the road with all 12 players getting on the scoreboard against the eight-man Vytautas side.
Big man Antanas Kavaliauskas collected a team-high 14 points for the visitors from Kaunas, Gytis Masiulis collected 13 points and 8 rebounds, while Axel Toupane continued his steady play with a 12-point and 6-board display.
Edvinas Seskus, son of Vytautas head coach Virginijus Seskus, led the way for his hometown club with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists, while Regimantas Miniotas and Gediminas Maceina chipped in with 15 points apiece.
Vytautas dropped to a 4-11 record in the league table.
In the other game of the day, the Renaldas Seibutis-led Neptunas took care of business against Nevezis in Kedainiai, inscribing an 85-74 victory to maintain their grip on second place with a 12-3 mark.
The 32-year-old Lithuania international Seibutis stepped up in a time of need for the Klaipeda club with 26 points, while Jerry Johnson chipped in with 17 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, James Woodard and Gintautas Matulis had a team-high 15 points apiece for Nevezis, while Gabrielius Maldunas and Valerii Likhodei added 10 each.
