Betsafe-LKL's fourth game week - collapse in Mažeikai and a thrilling game in Šiauliai

The fourth game week of Betsafe-LKL was full of surprises. Together with Scorestars, we are going over the action of the Lithuanian basketball league.

Last Saturday, the game week kicked off with a game between two rivals - Rytas Vilnius and 7bet-Lietkabelis Panevėžys. What first appeared to be a thrilling matchup, was ended rather quickly. After the second quarter, Rytas Vilnius was leading by 18 points already. The Lithuanian trio Tubelis-Radzevičius-Normantas was working like a well-oiled machine and Rytas Vilnius won it 64-87.

The second game of the Saturday night was played between Neptūnas Klaipėda and Wolves Twinsbet Vilnius. As Neptūnas Klaipėda has been strengthening their team massively between the two seasons, Wolves Twinsbet couldn’t look for an easy game. The new signings of both sides, Desure Buie (Neptūnas), Anthony Cowan (Wolves Twinsbet) and Garrison Brooks (Wolves Twinsbet) shined bright. Martynas Pacevičius made a massive performance for the home side, dominating the rim by taking 17 rebounds and collecting 10 points. A. Cowan’s and G. Brooks’ 21 efficiency rating wasn’t enough this time. 89-74 win for Neptūnas Klaipėda.

Betsafe-LKL Sunday night was introduced by M Basket-Delamode Mažeikiai and Uniclub Bet – Juventus Utena. The game was a total collapse for the home side. After performing well in the previous Betsafe-LKL games, it was a big surprise how the whole Mažeikai team couldn’t perform this day. They made only 14 points in total from the last two quarters. Total score 46-91 for Uniclub Bet – Juventus Utena. From the winners side Dominic Green (23 EFF), Laurynas Beliauskas (18 EFF), Šarūnas Beniušis (17 EFF) stood out.

The last game of the game week was played at the Šiauliai Arena. The Šiauliai – Casino Admiral was facing Nevėžis-Optibet Kėdainiai. The home side started better by scoring 31 points in the first quarter. Yet, the Nevėžis-Optibet recovered well and played better during the second and third quarters. The fourth quarter started at 69 -74 for the away side. Šiauliai – Casino Admiral turned in the last gear and won the fourth quarter 26-17 and the whole game 95-91. A fantastic performance was made by the fourth-round MVP, Mindaugas Kupšas (33 EFF), and the new signing Shaq Buchanan (24 EFF).
