Neptunas top Lietuvos Rytas in Vilnius, snap 13-game win streak
Third-placed Neptunas got within a single game of Lietuvos Rytas, one place above them in the Betsafe LKL standings, after moving to a 20-6 record with a 99-86 victory against their opponents from Vilnius on the road in the capital.
The defeat ended a 13-game winning streak for coach Rimas Kurtinaitis and his players, who had last lost a game in the domestic championship back in November, also to Neptunas.
Having led for most of the contest, the visitors effectively put the game out of reach with a 17-4 run in the fourth quarter to pull away 91-76 with just a couple of minutes left to play.
Edgaras Zelionis led the winners with a game-high 25 points and 6 rebounds, former Lietuvos Rytas players Jerry Johnson and Renaldas Seibutis collected 19 and 17 points, respectively.
In a losing effort, Loukas Mavrokefalidis led the home side with 16 points, with Rokas Giedraitis and Martynas Echodas adding 14 points each. Travis Peterson was the only other double-digit scorer in the game with 13 points.
