Zalgiris captain Jankunas claims Player of the Week honors

Zalgiris could not achieve the outcome they were looking for in the Betsafe LKL classic against Lietuvos Rytas over the weekend, but it was certainly to no fault of captain Paulius Jankunas.

In a narrow 65-63 home loss, the 33-year-old power forward collected a game-high 18 points, adding 8 rebounds and 3 assists for an efficiency index of 29, which earned him the Player of the Week honors for the first time this season.

The Team of the Week also features the Neptunas duo of Juan Palacios and Jerry Johnson, as well as Donatas Sabeckis of Siauliai and Vytautas frontman Eigirdas Zukauskas.

In the running for Player of the Week award every week, Palacios heads the overall efficiency ranking with an average rating of 20.4 per game, followed by his former teammate Arnas Butkevicius, who transferred to Lietuvos Rytas just a couple of days previously.
