The dominance of Zalgiris in the Betsafe LKL continued with the green-and-whites claiming their eight domestic championship title in a row by inscribing a 4-1 victory over Lietuvos Rytas in the Finals.
Brandon Davies turned in a wonderful 29-point performance and collected an efficiency index of 41, as the green-and-whites downed their main rivals 80-70 in Game 5 to clinch their 20th overall title.
Beno Udrih and Kevin Pangos also played an important role with 10 points apiece, as Zalgiris broke away in the fourth quarter, giving the home fans at the Zalgirio Arena a reason to celebrate.
For Lietuvos Rytas, Loukas Mavrokefalidis had a team-high 20 points, Martynas Echodas scored 9 points, while Chris Kramer flirted with a double-double after collecting 8 points and 10 assists.
It was the first time Lietuvos Rytas played in the Betsafe LKL Finals since the 2014-15 season. They last interrupted Zalgiris’ dominance eight years ago, defeating the Kaunas club for the title in the 2009-10 campaign.
Zalgiris have been in control of the trophy since then.
